(CNN) — Egyptian scientists say they have developed the first insect repellent material in the region, which has the power to protect people from being bitten by any bug, including mosquitoes.

Mohamed Hashem and his team at the Egypt National Research Center developed the textile, which he says is infused with what a natural and environmentally friendly material. Hashem would not reveal the exact composition of the substance, but said that it had the power to kill insects that were exposed to it for prolonged periods.

Insect repellent materials already exist in the West, but this development will allow regional manufacturers to buy it for much less, and Hashem says there are plans for it to be used by the Egyptian armed forces.

My Summer expedition

Going from March to June, the summer season is the hottest time in most of the parts of India. The most hectic season of this tropical country, summer scorches almost all the parts of India with sweltering heat. Hot winds and scorching sun are the two most inseparable constituents of Indian summer. Light cotton clothes remain the order of the day to protect yourself of the prickly heat of Indian summer.

In some of the hilly and desert areas, water too becomes a scarcity during summer. The month of June is the hottest month of the year in India when temperature crosses even 45 degrees. Things however become tighter when it comes to traveling around. It either has to be an AC bus/train, non AC bus/train or going by air which is afforded by a few. AC and Non AC here I mean they are either Air Conditioned or have only fans. So the largest number will always go for Non AC bus or train since this is afforded by most people. But the experience there can be horrible for one who is traveling for the first time and is not a native.

First there are fans in the non AC buses and trains that blow hot air and the next thing running into your mind is when will I get there, because all you can do is gallop as much water or juice as you can and ensure u have a face towel to wipe off the sweat since a hanky may not be of much help here because it will be soaked in seconds. As if this is not enough hustle, these trains make a number of stops at the different stations, and more and more people jump in. Because this is the major transport here, they are over booked and many will even go standing so even the little fresh air one should be getting is all consumed. What an experience this is, am one who loves traveling and adventure, but as soon as I jumped off that train…I just said enough of the adventure. But it was worth a try because there is no way I would have known all this without being part of it. So as the saying always goes, experience is the best teacher.
